Taylor Reiko designs around how people actually live, and she has the credentials to explain why.

She studied sociology at UBC and spent her early career in hospitality and event planning, where she noticed something that redirected everything. One table in the restaurant had a wait of hours while identical tables sat empty. The only difference was a beautifully decorated gallery wall behind it. That people respond that strongly to a space is the idea her entire practice is built on.

She left hospitality, founded Taylor Reiko Design, and built a client base in Vancouver on a process that starts with behaviour rather than aesthetics. Where does someone go first in the morning, the coffee machine or the desk? How do they actually move through a room? Her sociology background isn't a footnote on her bio, it's the method.

In 2026 she competed on Season 3 of Renovation Resort Showdown, airing on Home Network in Canada and HGTV in the US, where eight designers from across North America transformed a neglected Kawartha Lakes property into a waterfront resort on eight-week deadlines under Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler. Taylor won the weekly challenges for the kitchen, the dining room, and the living room, the three spaces where a household actually lives and the hardest rooms in any home to get right. Winning all three in a field of North America's best is the clearest possible proof of what she does.

Taylor's audience follows her for design that holds up in a real house with a real budget, and brands find her an easy fit because she can articulate exactly why a product works in a space rather than just placing it there.
