He didn't come up through the trades the conventional way. Mehrdad earned a kinesiology degree, graduating at the top of his class, before turning to construction full time. That background shows up in how he works, a genuine interest in how bodies move through space and how a build actually functions for the people living in it.

He owns and operates Amini Construction, a Greater Vancouver firm handling residential and commercial renovation, new build, and full project management from permits and inspections through to final finishes. His portfolio runs from downtown Vancouver condos to waterfront properties on Beach Avenue to full-home transformations on the North Shore.

In 2026 he competed on Season 3 of Renovation Resort Showdown, airing on Home Network in Canada and HGTV in the US, where four contractor and designer duos raced to transform a neglected Kawartha Lakes resort under Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler. Paired with designer Taylor Reiko, Mehrdad took the weekly challenge wins for the kitchen, the dining room, and the living room, the three most technically demanding rooms in any house and the ones a homeowner lives in every day.

Mehrdad takes his health seriously in an industry that mostly doesn't. He trains consistently and is deliberate about what he puts in his body, and he does it while running a construction company, which anyone who has worked in the trades knows is the hard part. Twelve-hour days, drive-through lunches, and pushing your body until it gives out is the norm on most sites. He built a different routine and stuck to it.

He's also a teacher at heart, running a YouTube channel built around showing people how to transform their own spaces, and he lives the downtown Vancouver condo life he renovates for his clients, so he understands small-space constraints from the inside.

He is on job sites daily, working with real materials, tools, and appliances, and his audience follows him for exactly that, the practical detail of how something gets built and whether it holds up.
