Amanda Muse was building community online before most brands knew what an influencer was. In 2012, living as an expat in Malaysia with a six-month-old, she started posting on YouTube to find other women going through the same messy, beautiful, isolating early years of motherhood. She couldn’t find her tribe, so she built one. Fourteen years later, that community is still with her.
Amanda describes her content as relatable, genuine and playful, rooted in finding humour and joy in the real, imperfect parts of life. She has never been a polished, perfect-life creator, and her audience trusts her because she has never pretended to have it all figured out. That honesty took her from early YouTube to earning her Silver Creator Award for surpassing 100,000 YouTube subscribers, being featured on TIME.com, receiving Iris Award nominations for her livestreams, video work and podcast, and becoming a go-to Lifestyle and Parenting Expert on Global’s The Morning Show and CityLine.
She was an early adopter on nearly every platform that mattered, launched The Sandwich, one of Canada’s early top-ranking podcasts, and has spoken on stages including Mom 2.0 and Blissdom Canada.
Now in her 40s and based in the Toronto area, Amanda is in what she calls her Midlife Reset. Her content has grown up with her, from the baby years to raising teens, starting over, blending a family of three kids and finding love again, with plenty of humour about the age gap along the way.
Amanda is also back at university, working toward her undergraduate degree and embracing what it looks like to keep learning, evolving and figuring out what comes next in midlife. Her content continues to make room for the conversations her community has always come to her for….motherhood, relationships, mental health, identity and the messy reality of becoming yourself again and again. She isn’t selling a life stage. She’s living it, and bringing her audience along.
